Tradeweb Trading Volume Reaches $61.2 Trillion as ADV Rises 14%

2026-09-04

Tradeweb Markets reported a total trading volume of $61.2 trillion for August 2026, driven by a 13.7% year-on-year increase in average daily volume (ADV) to $2.8 trillion. Despite the strong annual comparison, activity slowed down compared to July's record figures, showing a 4.5% month-on-month decline across its platform. Total daily executed trades averaged over 188,000 as institutional demand remained resilient across fixed income and credit markets. The rates category led total activity, boosted by a 29% surge in US Government Bond volume due to changing central bank monetary policy expectations and ongoing economic uncertainty. Swaps and swaptions trading also experienced heightened demand as institutional clients adjusted their portfolios for long-term rate shifts. Furthermore, credit derivatives maintained their momentum, staying slightly above cash credit volumes for the second consecutive month. Overall, the figures underscore growing reliance on electronic trading platforms among global institutional investors navigating macroeconomic shifts. Market participants will continue watching fixed income trading activity for clues on how major market participants are positioning ahead of upcoming global central bank interest rate decisions.
