‎Saudi chemical exports fall to SAR 4.7B in June

2026-08-27

Saudi Arabia’s exports of chemical and related products dropped 30% year-on-year to SAR 4.7 billion in June 2026, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). Month-on-month, chemical exports contracted by SAR 844.1 million or 15%. Petrochemical exports plunged to their lowest level since December 2020. Despite the decline, chemical products continued to represent a significant portion of non-oil trade, accounting for 19.2% of the total SAR 24.59 billion non-oil exports for the month. India retained its position as the top destination for Saudi chemical exports, acquiring SAR 1.25 billion or 26.5% of the total trade. The United States ranked second with SAR 421.1 million (8.9%), followed closely by the United Arab Emirates with SAR 414.7 million (8.8%), Turkey with SAR 300.5 million (6.4%), and China with SAR 247.8 million. The broad-based reduction reflects ongoing shifts in global industrial demand and chemical market pricing. The decline in petrochemical shipments underscores potential headwinds for domestic industrial producers and non-oil revenue growth targets. Saudi market investors should monitor global demand trends, global economic activity, and pricing dynamics in key export destinations like India and China, as these factors directly influence corporate margins across the Kingdom's materials sector.
