The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has unveiled a series of practical steps aimed at easing access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Following a comprehensive review, the FCA concluded that its existing regulatory framework is not the primary obstacle to SME funding. Instead, the main hurdles stem from broader market structural issues, lack of financial awareness, complex application procedures, and difficulty securing loans for firms with limited physical collateral.
