Australian broker Axi revealed that over 60% of its active trading clients are now using MetaTrader 5 (MT5), moving away from the legacy MT4 platform. In addition to adopting MT5, Axi has begun integrating MetaQuotes' Ultency, an advanced order-matching and liquidity aggregation engine designed to streamline trade execution and lower latency for CFD traders.

This shift reflects a broader industry trend where MT5 market share surpassed MT4 last year, accounting for more than 62% of combined trading volume. MetaQuotes is aggressively pushing its Ultency engine using a volume-based pricing model to challenge traditional third-party liquidity bridge providers like oneZero and PrimeXM, sparking intense competition among financial technology vendors.

For Axi's expanding operational footings, MT5 provides better server connectivity, automated administrative controls, and scalable infrastructure. Market participants should monitor whether MetaQuotes' competitive pricing on liquidity bridges will lower institutional execution costs across retail FX brokers globally.
