London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) announced that its vast archive of Tick History data can now be processed in seconds using NVIDIA graphics processors, down from hours previously. The technology leverages NVIDIA's cuDF software and the Polars data library to analyze over 110 trillion rows of market data spanning 30 years without making extra copies of the records.
The benchmark highlights a major technical breakthrough for institutional trading desks, hedge funds, and brokers. Demand for historical tick data has surged, with LSEG reporting a 48% increase in customer API requests in the first half of the year, alongside record traffic on its real-time network.
By eliminating the need to downsample detailed market data, financial institutions can run complex strategy backtests, best-execution checks, and risk management models faster and more accurately. Financial data vendors are increasingly integrating advanced AI hardware to meet growing demand from algorithmic traders.
